| Participant Observation
The links in this section deal with various forms of participant observations. In our simulated case, the participant conducted his own observation. He recorded himself with a think-aloud protocol while he was writing. Also, he used photo-elicitations to discuss his own observations that shaped his writing.
The photo elicited reflections are in the field notes section as these are notes that the participant made of himself and his own writing process. Since the participant was agentic enough to articulate his own experience, I used a de/colonizing feminist approach to design this form of observation.
However, there are other forms of participant observation where the researcher is present in the same environment as the participant. The researcher can choose to be participate actively as a member of the participant's environment, or can participate only at times, or be peripheral in her participation. Whether or not the researcher actively participates, s/he is always part of the environment when s/he observes and therefore she is a participant of the observation.
